About the Department
The Department of Mathematics offers courses in both Science and Commerce streams. It offers Mathematical & Statistical Techniques at F.Y.B.Com. and Computer Systems & Applications at T.Y.B.Com. along with computer lab training in Visual BASIC, MYSQL, PYTHON, and EXCEL etc.
In Science stream, it offers pure and applied subjects in Mathematics at FYBSC and SYBSC level as prescribed by the University of Mumbai. The department also focuses on application of Mathematics to other disciplines.
The department is well equipped with latest computer lab facilities and comprised of highly qualified faculty members as per the U.G.C. guidelines, and actively involved in research activities to impart knowledge in both Science and Commerce streams.
Objectives
- Create interest in the subject of Mathematics and motivate students to pursue higher studies in Mathematics
- Inspire students to apply Mathematics to other branches of Science and Commerce
- Develop abstract and logical thinking
- Encourage students to make generalizations of concepts and communicate Mathematical ideas
