About the Department
The Department of Information Technology, endeavors incessantly in raising astute
Technoverts with outstanding results consistently from the year 2001 with an intake capacity of 60. The rise in demand of the techsavy youth encouraged the department to upgrade itself by introducing the post graduate programme of Masters in Information Technology in the year 2004 with an intake of 20 students.
To beguile the course practically, the department avails the students with engrossing teaching learning experience by well qualified and experienced faculty members, well-equipped laboratories endowed with high speed internet; having required hardware and software as per the curriculum and the necessary modern amenities.
The power of observation and analysis of a problem is inculcated in our students. Young
Technoverts are trained by the department to embrace software and hardware skills in terms of new technologies and tools for smooth implementation. A disciplined, mature and professional approach is assimilated in order to become familiar with the corporate
environment. Communication skills, leadership qualities, the spirit of team work and the idea of learning and imparting knowledge are evolved enabling confidence and individuality deep into the minds of our learners.
The department resolves to disseminate the knowledge on the spectrum of technology
ceaselessly yet maintaining the echelon of discipline and professionalism.
Objectives
- To propagate the idea of Information Technology and its other interdisciplinary interfaces among young minds
- To acclimate students with the managerial practices in vogue in the arena of Information Technology
- To imbibe the ability to apply design and development principles in the construction of software systems of varying complexity
- To instill divergent thinking, confidence, cognitive empathy among students
- To develop a broad minded and receptive approach towards new technologies and current global trends in the world of Information technology
Teaching Skills
- Students are encouraged to work together in teams, study cases and implement the problem based learning approach especially for mathematical subjects; thereby gaining comprehensive subject knowledge
- The computer assisted learning methodology, in order to keep the learners involved in the subject by showing them relevant videos and animations
- An interactive teaching environment is created by organizing subject based quizzes, individual brain storming and constant question answer sessions
- Students are endowed with labs, internet facility, the software and hardware required as per the curriculum for developing the projects and studying the use cases
- An exposure to the corporate world, industry and new technologies is provided to the students by arranging industrial visits, appropriate seminars and webinars
Short Term Courses
I.Q.A.C along with Department of Information Technology and Computer Science has organizes Online Data Science (Beginners) Level 1 Certification Course from 25th August, 2021 to 15th September, 2021 at 3p.m.to 5p.m. (Monday to Saturday).
Resonance
The fourteenth year of inter-collegiate technical fest “Resonance” was organized completely online by the Department of Information Technology on February 26th and 27th, 2021. Resonance is the ground for students to develop their Technical, Communication and Team skills. Mr. Sanjay Jotwani, founder and CEO of Cognition Knowledge Tech Pvt. Ltd was invited as chief guest to felicitate the fest. Students from various colleges across Mumbai participated in the events like IT Puzzle, Typing Master, Code Hunt, Valorant, Debugging, Digital Advertising and many more. Hundreds of students of more than 25 colleges enthusiastically participated in the events.
Resonance – a platform for the students to show case their creative thinking and technical skills. The thirteenth year of inter-collegiate technical fest was organized by the Department of Information Technology on February 7 and 8, 2020. Our Alma mater Mr. Thayagarajan working in Oracle India was invited as chief guest to felicitate the fest. Students from various colleges across Mumbai participated in the events like virtual reality, hard shoot, Cross coding and many more. Around 500 students of more than 25 colleges enthusiastically participated in the events and were excited to win goodies and prizes as winners.
The event was organized from 7th February, 2019 and 8th February, 2019. The fest consisted of 32 events and a crowd from over 55 colleges. A new concept of “AI Games” was introduced along with other technical events.
The event was organized from 5th February, 2018 to 7th February, 2018. Colleges from all over Mumbai participated in the event. The student exhibited various models on Technology. The star event of the Intercollegiate was “ROBO SUMO” which attracted students from different colleges across Mumbai.
The event was organized from 2nd February, 2017 to 4th February, 2017. “Android App development” the star event attracted the students from various colleges. The students exhibited different 3D models based on technology.
Departmental Activities
The department provides a platform to organize and host various technical and non-technical events. :
- Resonance
An intercollegiate technical festival is the culmination of the zest, determination and avidity of the students; incepted in the year 2008 and till date carries on its relentless legacy. The festival consists of copious competitive technical events that bring in exhilarated participation of young technophiles from colleges around the city and beyond. Resonance helps young “Resonators” as they are called, to comprehend and experience other fields like management, finance and communication practically thereby emerging as confident, skillful and radical individuals.
- Industrial Visit
The department arrange for an excursion to make the students aware of the work culture, place and people in the organization. Students are divulged about the industry needs and meet, blooming technology, the product and services the sector has progressed with. Few companies and the places the students have visited over the years are Virinchi Technologies (Hyderabad), Pingaksho (Chandigarh), Genre (Jaipur), Deloitte (Bengaluru) and are also enticed with the local sightseeing. Thus the students are made aware of the corporate etiquette and embrace the human goodness of generous care and share; making the delightful trip memorable.
- Seminars and Career Guidance
Students are oriented and guided throughout their triannual course of education. Several sessions are conducted to expertise the students in meeting the industry expectation. Some of the sessions edified by the corporate experts, the emeritus and the emerita are Mastering Interview Skills, Resume Building, Career Opportunities, Digital Marketing, Python Programming, Ethical Hacking and many more.
